End-to-end walkthrough of a multi-milestone contract — funding, delivery, approval, and payout — so you know what to expect at each stage.
The agreement
Fixed-price engagements lock in the total price up front (e.g. $400 total). You choose to split that into 1, 2, 3, or 4 milestones — each milestone is roughly the same dollar amount and you can describe what's delivered per stage when booking.
Fund one milestone at a time
After the instructor accepts your request, open the engagement under My Learning. The next pending milestone shows a 'Fund Milestone N of M' button. Funding charges your saved card via Stripe and holds the amount in escrow on Tutrx — your money stays protected until you approve the deliverable.
Work in progress
Once you fund Milestone 1, the instructor can begin. Their status flips to 'Funded — work in progress'. While the milestone is in flight you can chat in the Session Chat, share reference files via the milestone's Attachments, and add notes about feedback or context.
Review submitted work
When the instructor submits work, the milestone moves to 'Pending Approval' and you have 24 hours to act. Click Approve & Release to accept the deliverable — the instructor's share is paid via Wise, and the milestone closes. If something's wrong, click Dispute to flag it for review.
Repeat for the remaining milestones
After approving Milestone 1, the next pending milestone appears. Fund it, the instructor starts on the next stage, and the cycle continues. You only pay as work is delivered and accepted, so you stay in control over the full scope.
Closing out
Once the final milestone is approved and paid, the engagement automatically moves to Completed and we'll email you to leave a review. Past milestones still show in your dashboard with all attachments and notes preserved for reference.
