How to Create Projects for Students

Design real-world projects with positions, required skills, and goals for students to apply what they've learned.

    Step-by-step guide

    1. 1

      Open the Projects section

From your Instructor Dashboard, click 'Projects' in the sidebar. This is where you create and manage project-based assignments for your students.

    2. 2

      Click 'Create Project'

Click the 'Create Project' button to launch the project creation wizard. The wizard guides you through four steps to build a complete project brief.

    3. 3

      Step 1: Basic Information

Enter the project title, a detailed description of what students will build or accomplish, the overall goal, and select a category. Be specific about the deliverables so students know exactly what's expected.

    4. 4

      Step 2: Add Positions

Projects can have multiple positions (roles). For each position, add a title (e.g. 'Frontend Developer', 'Data Analyst') and list the required skills. This helps students understand what competencies they need and lets them apply for roles that match their strengths.

    5. 5

      Step 3: Add a Thumbnail

Upload a project thumbnail image to make it visually appealing. A good thumbnail helps your project stand out and gives students a quick visual reference for what the project is about.

    6. 6

      Step 4: Review and Publish

Review all the details — title, description, goal, positions, and image. You can save it as a draft to finish later, or click 'Publish' to make it live immediately. Published projects are visible to students who can then apply.

    7. 7

Use AI to generate a project (optional)

If you need inspiration, use the AI generation feature. Describe the type of project you want and the AI will create a complete project brief with title, description, goal, and positions. Review and customize it before publishing.

    8. 8

      Review student applications

Once published, students can apply to your project. You'll see applicant counts on your Projects page. Review applications, accept students into positions, and provide guidance as they work through the project.
